The Press Institute for Women in the Developing World is pleased to present Journey to the 5th Chakra, a yoga workshop and fundraiser to benefit the Institute on Saturday July 29th in San Francisco.
Join New York City's Narayani for an invigorating asana class. Taught in the Jivamukti style, the class will combine meditation, dharma (teachings), kirtan (chanting), and a challenging series of asanas (postures). All seven chakras will be introduced but the focus will be on the Vishuddha, the 5th chakra. Located at the base of your throat, Vishuddha is the center for speech. You will learn how to open this center to find your true voice. From vibrational chanting to potent asanas such as salamba sarvangasana (shoulder stand), Narayani will gracefully lead you to discoveries that will free your mind and open your heart. This 3-hour workshiop will also include an introduction to The Press Institute for Women in the Developing World, and a closing reception with chai and sweet treats.
The workshop will further The Institute's mission of empowering women everywhere with voice, strength and light. Taught in 2 sessions, from 10-1 or 4-7, Journey to the 5th chakra will be held at The Buddhist Center in San Francisco, 37 Bartlett St between Missionn and Valencia on Saturday July 29th. Please call 415-516-3012 or email events@piwdw.org to register. $95 in advance or $105 at the door.
